I loved this! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The atmosphere that Cherie Priest creates in this book is amazing. Every little detail about the town of Staywater struck the exact right note to make me feel like I was hanging out in a small mysterious swamp town.
The book starts with a couple, Titus and Melanie Bell, traveling to their honeymoon in the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia. They are driving down State Road 177 when something happens. Titus wakes up on his back in the middle of the road to find the car doors open and that Melanie was gone. What follows is a search for answers and for Melanie. The town of Staywater is hiding secrets and certain residents of the town know what happened to Melanie, know what took her. They decide it's time to finish the fight that they started years before.
I didn't LOVE the ending but that's not enough for me to take off a star because I thought the rest of the book was brilliant. Thanks to @night_wormsfor sending me this one in their summer vacation package!
