Creature Feature: Vampires

This year, I will be reading as many books about monsters and creatures that I can. Each month, I will focus on a different type of monster and reporting my results in a series of articles. For January, I decided to read vampire books. I wanted to focus on lesser-known and indie titles for these articles, so if I don't include a classic in my run down, forgive me. For example, for the vampire article, I'm assuming that everyone interested in vampire fiction knows about Bram Stoker, Charlene Harris, Stephanie Meyer, and Anne Rice.

Night Worms Book Party: WHISPERS IN THE DARK by Laurel Hightower

The Night Worms review team got together to do another book party and this time we read WHISPERS IN THE DARK by Laurel Hightower. I just have to say as the person that compiles all of these blurbs for the Night Worms book parties, I have never seen so many exclamation points in the reviews I’m pulling quotes from. HYSTERIA. You wanted to have “too much sex?” HYSTERIA. Didn’t obey your husband’s every command? HYSTERIA. Sometimes...

10 Tips for Starting a Vintage Horror Collection, By The Horror Hypothesis

I’ll admit it, I have a problem.

My name is Donnie and I am a vintage horror bibliomaniac.

The outrageous covers, provocative titles, and wide range of cheesy, but often thought provoking stories.  A few years back I found myself drawn into this dark world. Quickly, I spiraled into making routine trips to bookstores all over the country just to satisfy my urge to find the next horribly awesome title for my...
