Night Worms Book Party- THE FEARING: BLOOD & BRIMSTONE by John F. D. Taff

THE FEARING: BLOOD & BRIMSTONE by John F. D. Taff
4 Days to go!! Back this project: *Kickstarter*
"The Fearing: Blood & Brimstone is a novella written by John F.D. Taff expanding his The Fearing universe and is published by Saturday Morning Scenarios. This KS is for John's novella. After the Kickstarter John and I will be working together to bring The Fearing to the Whispers RPG universe."

"BLOOD & BRIMSTONE takes place in the timeline of the novel but it can be a standalone book as well. Readers follow Timothy Jacoby and Tam Washington for a deeper exploration of their story within the much larger scope of THE FEARING. I enjoyed getting to know these two characters better as they navigate the world's chaotic new landscape. Character-driven horror is my favorite because I'm a firm believer that unless I'm invested in the lives of fictional people, my emotions can't be manipulated enough to be scared. Taff obviously knows this and brings all of his characters to life on the page. There were a few scenes that stood out to me as especially terrifying and I had this to say,
"I used to think the creepy kids trope was fun and now I’m just f***ing terrified. Hats off to the King of Pain, once again, for knowing how to level up all our casual fears.”
This book makes it clear, one again, that Taff relishes the idea of taking well-known horror tropes, actual phobias, and even subtle anxieties only to exploit them all in the setting of his apocalypse. His true purpose, however, is to show us what we're really made of and how working together is the only way to face our fears. @mother.horror
"I love the world that Taff created for these books. Absolutely can't get enough of it. I particularly enjoy apocalyptic novels that offer minimal explation for why the end is here but focus more on the struggle to survive in the new world. Speaking of the new world, the world of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 is amazing and ripe for more stories. The idea of a person's fears manifesting physically in the world is red meat for a horror reader. The possibilities are endless and Taff takes advantage of that. Jacoby and Tam have outrageously scary encounters over their journey. Each of which is accentuated by jaw droppingly gorgeous artwork. ⁣

This is the follow-up to the epic serial novel 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 that was released in 2019. It is a standalone but follows some characters that appear in the other books. But this is their back story so you don't need to read the other books first. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨: 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘦 is currently on Kickstarter and I highly recommend you check it out. 5⭐" @teamredmon
"First off, lets take a look at that cover. It's beautiful. Matt Corley of saturday morning scenarios has put together a beautiful package of a book. The whole thing just feels like a quality book, the illustrations are beautiful themselves, yet at the same time, they are haunting. Now, on to the novella. If you were wondering if lightning would strike a 5th time, rest assured, it has. At this point there should be no question with Taff, he writes a book, you read it, plain and simple. I enjoyed getting a chance to dive back into this world and it was refreshing to take Jacoby and Tam and see how they got to the point we initially met them at.

But the fears, what about the fears? As usual, they are a treat to read. We get a good look at some crazy, individualized fears here. Some of the stuff Taff thinks are pure nightmare fuel.

While possible to read this in between some of the fearing novels, or even as a standalone if you were so inclined, i wouldn't recommend it. In my opinion, this works best as a reason to dive back in and flesh out the universe. If you haven't read The Fearing, fix that. Once you've got that corrected, keep this one on your radar and be ready to face your fears, again." @steelrainreviews

"Dropping almost a year after the conclusion of The Fearing, we are drawn back into Taff’s Earth of personal fears manifesting. Blood & Brimstone pulls the curtain back on the (I’d say unexpected) origin of a couple of particularly abrasive characters and ushers in some of the darkest visions in the series. 5⭐️’s, easy. I loved every moment."
"I love this world so much.
Set in the same world as THE FEARING series, we follow Timothy Jacoby as the world goes to crap. He's an insurance broker whose life is just a mess. He's going through a divorce where he has lost half of everything and he's just down in the dumps. One thing he's for sure of is that if and when the end of the world comes, HE'S READY! See, he's somewhat of a prepper and thankfully so cause if you've read The Fearing than you know that the world is in chaos. We also follow Tam and let me tell you she's a bad-ass. From the beginning she's taking the bull by the horns and running. As you might have guessed Timothy and Tam cross paths and take on the end of the world.
Now I must admit I've only read book 1, Fire and Rain and I loved it.  I really want to continue on with the series cause book 1 leaves you wanting more.  But, don't fret if you haven't read the series because although these characters do show up in book 3, from what I hear, this novella stands on its own.  It's also a great starting point to the "original" series.
If you're looking for an intense apocalyptic novella then look no further because Blood & Brimstone is fast paced and has it all: demons, aliens, nuclear warfare, and much much more that I don't want to spoil.
This novella is currently available for pre-order through kickstarter so go back this project up, you will not regret it!" @marcyreads
"I've got literally no fucking idea what's going on."

All of us in 2020. The Fearing: Blood and Brimstone perfectly captures the year we've been having because what ACTUALLY CAN HAPPEN NEXT? With the ways things have been going, this book may be non fiction." @spookishmommy
