ONLY THE STAINS REMAIN by Ross Jeffery
"From the Bram Stoker Nominated Author Ross Jeffery comes a new nightmare.
Only The Stains Remain is the haunting story of Jude and Kyle, two brothers whose lives are destroyed when, following the death of their mother, their three abusive uncles Dwight, Lucius, and Lenny move in to the family home. But whilst Jude suffers to a degree, Kyle is the one who takes the brunt of their attention, submitting himself to preserve his younger brother’s innocence.
As a grown man, Jude’s mind turns to vengeance for what they have endured. He has waited a long time, but now he is strong enough, and cold-hearted enough, to do the deed. Enacting one harrowing revenge after another, Jude’s dark quest to punish the wrongs of the past will show that after all is said and done, only the stains of the past will remain."
Note from the editor: Welcome to our Book Party that we organized for Ross Jeffery's book, ONLY THE STAINS REMAIN. I have two large group chats on #Bookstagram comprised of readers who love to read & review horror fiction on their dedicated, bookish accounts. I post the cover of the book and the synopsis in the chats and if it appeals to anyone, they email me for a review copy. Reading and reviewing this book was optional. I took a copy for myself and about 15% into it, I had to put it aside.
The subject matter leans into extreme child abuse and it made me uncomfortable. I'm a huge fan of Ross Jeffery's work, so I was disappointed to miss out on what is obviously receiving a lot of praise in the community, but some boundaries I just don't cross-I've learned that the hard way. However, I'm pleased to be sharing these book reviews from my friends. Enjoy! ~Sadie Hartmann "Mother Horror"
Destiny, Ross is an exceptionally talented writer. I think you would enjoy his “Juniper” series of books coming out through Stygian Sky Media soon.

Great reviews! Like Sadie, I sadly won’t be crossing my own boundaries for this one despite the fact that I’m absolutely certain it would be an incredible read. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate how many of these mini reviews touched on trigger warnings and even comparing the book to other stories (like TGND or The Road), because I was considering trying to push through to read this, and these mini reviews made me realize I would be doing myself (and Ross, and the book) a disservice by putting myself through this story. I’ll sadly have to cheer this one on from the sidelines, but all the praise has me excited to pick up another of Ross Jeffery’s stories! ♥
